Choosing A Plastic Surgery Expert

• Are they board certified in plastic surgery?

• Does the plastic surgeon teach other doctors and contribute to the medical literature?
  
  • Dr. Mandell-Brown holds workshops in plastic surgery and laser workshops for physicians at the Mandell-Brown Plastic Surgery Center. He holds a teaching appointment at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and annually teaches medical students and residents. He has lectured throughout the United States and Canada. Dr. Mandell-Brown has authored over a dozen medical articles and served as a co-editor of four medical textbooks.  He teaches an annual course  on Breast Augmentation Surgery for the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery.

Finally, beware of some plastic surgery societies that self-promote and claim they are the only legitimate plastic surgery society. The American Academy of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAPRS) is the most aggressive claiming it is the only legitimate plastic surgery society. However, physicians who pursue rigorous plastic surgery training may be members of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS) or the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS).
