Mandell-Brown Plastic Surgery Center Meets Highest Safety Standards

Monday, November 14th, 2011

The Mandell-Brown Plastic Surgery CenterWhy go to a hospital when you can have plastic surgery performed in a triple accredited office-based surgery center like the Mandell-Brown Plastic Surgery Center?

The Los Angeles Times recently reported that there were infection violations at the famous Los Angeles UCLA Medical Center, where many Hollywood stars seek treatment. The hospital “failed to maintain a sanitary environment for the provision of surgical services,” according to a federal report. This is not unusual for large hospitals — even famous ones.

Dr. Mark Mandell-Brown, Director of The Plastic Surgery Experts, designed and built an office-based surgery center to control the safety and environment of patients undergoing elective cosmetic surgery in Ohio.

The Mandell-Brown Plastic Surgery Center adheres to the highest standards and is accredited by the State of Ohio, Medicare and the Accreditation Association of Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC).

Recently, the Mandell-Brown Plastic Surgery Center was evaluated by both Medicare and AAAHC and was found to have the highest standards for safety and infection control — earning the highest accreditation level by AAAHC.

Located near the Bethesda North Medical Complex in Cincinnati, Ohio, the Mandell-Brown Plastic Surgery Center offers cosmetic patients privacy with all the amenities of a hospital-like setting.

Patients should check for the following when choosing a surgery center:

  1. Is the surgery center accredited by AAAHC, Medicare and the state?
  2. Is the center meeting national infection and hand washing guidelines?
  3. What is the infection rate of surgery center?
  4. How many patients have died at the surgery center or within 24 hours of surgery?
  5. How many patients required hospitalization after outpatient surgery?
  6. When you go for a consultation does the office appear clean?
  7. If you have procedures like Botox or soft tissue fillers, does the staff wash their hands before injecting you?
  8. Is there lots of clutter in the office?
  9. Does the staff appear neat and clean or slovenly?
  10. How does the staff clean operating rooms and instruments?

Dr. Mandell-Brown Named Among Best Plastic Surgeons in Cincinnati

Monday, January 10th, 2011

In early January, Cincinnati Magazine released the 2011 results of a poll of 5000 Tri-State area physicians who vote to name the Tri-State area’s best physicians in multiple categories.

Dr. Mark Mandell-Brown, director of The Plastic Surgery Experts, was named “TOP DOCTOR” in plastic surgery. He has been consistently recognized for his plastic surgery and cosmetic surgery expertise in the Cincinnati Tri-State area. A leader nationally, Dr. Mandell-Brown holds annual seminars to teach other cosmetic surgeons breast augmentation, tummy tucks, and facial cosmetic surgery.

“Recognition by one’s peers is the highest honor a doctor can achieve,” noted Dr Mandell-Brown. “We strive to achieve a ‘natural look’ for our patients and treat each of them individually. Our goal is to help them look better, but not different.” he added.

Doctors in the Cincinnati and Dayton area are uniquely positioned to recognize excellence. They see Dr Mandell-Brown’s patients pre- and post-operatively for annual exams. These doctors also receive direct feedback from patients who have visited the highly acclaimed Mandell-Brown Plastic Surgery Center.

Plastic surgery procedures performed by Dr. Mandell-Brown include rhinoplasty (nose reshaping), face lifts, upper eyelid surgery, eyelid blepharoplasty, liposuction, breast augmentation, breast reduction, breast lifts, tummy tucks, ear reshaping (otoplasty) and brow lifts. Non-surgical treatments include Botox, Dysport, fillers like Restylane and Perlane, and laser skin resurfacing, and the Mandell-Brown Plastic Surgery Center offers full skin care treatment.

Plastic Surgeons, Estheticians Expand Work Hours to Meet Patient Need

Tuesday, November 23rd, 2010

In a recent style column of the New York Times, you can read about the expanding work hours of doctors and other professionals who offer aesthetic treatments.

Their columnist writes, “In most major cities, if you want pad Thai or a sweater dry-cleaned when most people are sleeping, there’s someone who will take care of it (for a price). These days, the same is true of beauty treatments.”

Cincinnati Plastic Surgeon, Mark Mandell-Brown MD, notes that as director of The Plastic Surgery Experts, his office has always striven to meet the needs of his patients.  “We have always had late hours until 8pm on Mondays to accommodate those who can’t make appointments during regular office hours,” he stated. “Our esthetician has always been available at various times including Saturdays to meet patient need,” he added.

Although many plastic surgery practices have noticed a significant drop in business, The Plastic Surgery Experts at The Mandell-Brown Plastic Surgery Center have maintained their volume.  “For some plastic surgeons, it takes a big awakener like the current recession to change their practice.  We have always tried to focus on patient needs in tailoring our practice,” observed Dr Mandell-Brown.

The staff is even willing to go above and beyond the norm.  When one facelift patient did not have a caretaker to help, nurses from the Mandell-Brown Plastic Surgery Center volunteered to help her.  The office staff have even been known to take patients to dinner. According to Marianne Mandell-Brown, office director, “It is all about exceeding our patient’s expectations. If you focus on your client, your practice will succeed in a good or bad economy,” she concluded.

Plastic Surgeon or Not? Clarification on Dr. Mandell-Brown’s Credentials

Tuesday, September 7th, 2010

Dr Mark Mandell-Brown was recently featured in The Cincinnati Enquirer in an article discussing board certification.  The article, “Plastic Surgeon or Not?” fails to mention Dr. Mandell-Brown’s complete credentials.  He is board certified by 1) the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 2) the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery and 3) the American Board of Otolaryngology –Head and Neck Surgery.

Doctors certified by the American Board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASPRS) have been falsely claiming that they are the only “real” plastic surgeons.   In reality, there are facial plastic surgeons such as Dr Mandell-Brown, eye plastic surgeons, and hand plastic surgeons with equal training and board certification.  Their training is as extensive or even more extensive than plastic surgeon members of the ASPRS.

For one group of doctors to claim they are the only legitimate plastic surgeon would be like Toyota or Ford claiming that they are the only legitimate automaker.  Yet some of the members of the ASPRS have initiated frivolous malpractice lawsuits against non-ASPRS members in order to gain a competitive advantage.  Other plastic surgeon members of the ASPRS have made misleading statements about non-ASPRS plastic surgeons.

Board Certification is one criterion in selecting your plastic/cosmetic surgeon.  However, be sure to check out their office, staff, doctors’s work, and assess how you are treated. Of course, price is another criteria, but when it comes to your face or body — do you really want to be a bargain shopper?
