Understanding Hair Removal
In the past, the usual remedies for unwanted hair were plucking, shaving, waxing, or chemical depilatories. Some are painful, messy, and except for electrolysis—only temporary. Electolyisis only treats a few hairs at a time and can take years to accomplish what the laser can do in a few minutes.

Welcome LIGHTSHEER, the diode laser with FDA approval for permanent hair reduction for men and women. This state-of-the art laser is designed to remove unwanted hair more reliably and faster than electrolysis.

The laser produces a beam of highly concentrated light. The light emitted by the Lightsheer laser is absorbed by the pigment located in the hair follicles. The laser pulses for a fraction of a second to vaporize the pigment and disabling several follicles at a time to impede hair reqrowth.

Three phases of hair growth:

Anagen-
The active growing phase of hair. The hair contains an abundance of melanin at this stage. This is the stage treated by the laser.

Catagen-
The regression stage when the hair stops growing.

Telogen-
The resting phase during which the old hair falls out in preparation for a new hair.

Only the anagen phase is treated by lasers. Therefore, anywhere from 4 to 6 treatments are typically needed to adequately treat one area. This will vary from individual as well as the particular body area.
