Understanding Laser Hair Removal
In the past, the usual remedies for unwanted hair were plucking, shaving, waxing, or chemical depilatories. Some are painful, messy, and except for electrolysis-only temporary. Electrolysis only treats a few hairs at a time and can take years to accomplish what the laser can do in a few minutes.

Welcome LIGHTSHEER, the diode laser with FDA approval for permanent hair reduction for men and women. This state-of-the art laser is designed to remove unwanted hair more reliably and faster than electrolysis.

Laser surgery produces a beam of highly concentrated light. The light emitted by the Lightsheer laser is absorbed by the pigment located in the hair follicles. The laser pulses for a fraction of a second to vaporize the pigment and disabling several follicles at a time to impede hair reqrowth.

Three phases of hair growth:

Anagen-
The active growing phase of hair. The hair contains an abundance of melanin at this stage. This is the stage treated by the laser.

Catagen-
The regression stage when the hair stops growing.

Telogen-
The resting phase during which the old hair falls out in preparation for a new hair.

Only the anagen phase is treated by lasers. Therefore, anywhere from 4 to 6 treatments are typically needed to adequately treat one area. This will vary from individual as well as the particular body area.
