Liposuction Techniques

A delicate procedure in which the body is sculpted to appear more trim and curvaceous, liposuction (“lipoplasty”) can be performed through a variety of techniques. Some of these techniques include:

• Ultrasound Assisted Liposuction- Through the insertion of a small tube called a “cannula” into the skin, localized fat deposits are broken up through the use of ultrasonic waves. As the fat is melted, it is then suctioned out through a vacuum device attached to the cannula. This technique is best suited for areas with excessive fat deposits, and may take longer than traditional methods.


• Tumescent Liposuction- By first injecting the area to be treated with a solution composed of an anesthetic and blood vessel constrictor, the body is prepped to have less bruising post-operatively. Afterward, the fat deposits are loosened and suctioned out through the vacuum and cannula. Incisions are minimal.
