Collagen Before and After Photos
Soft tissue fillers such as collagen have been used for years to augment the face. These fillers are used to fill out creases, acne scars, facial wrinkles, other areas of skin unevenness, or for lip enhancement.
Some of these soft tissue fillers include:
Collagen is the "Gold Standard" for tissue augmentation. Collagen, which is derived from Bovine collagen, has been used for almost two decades. After extensive study, Zyplast was introduced to the public in 1981. There is a 1% chance of an allergic reaction so a skin test is performed. After four weeks, the collagen can then be injected. Zyderm is used for fine lines. Zylplast is more commonly used as it lasts longer and tends to fill out the depressions better than the Zyderm.

For lip augmentation, collagen is our first choice. It can make the lips more full and sensuous. Although it only lasts two months to six months, it provides the patient the opportunity to try lip augmentation before committing to a permanent material.
Softform is a Goretex or synthetic-made product. This synthetic product has been used for over 20 years in heart and hernia surgery. The Goretex tube is loaded on a special introducer and through a micro-incision is inserted under the skin. This is ideal for the deep cheek creases by the mouth (nasolabial folds) Softform can be used to fill out the upper lip line creases, forehead furrows, and some deep cheek creases..
Individual synthetic Goretex strands are also available and loaded on a small needle. This is threaded under the skin to fill out shallow lines and creases. The needle is removed and the material stays permanently under the skin. With the Goretex strands, no incision is required.
Alloderm is derived from the dermis of donors. The tissue banks are similar to blood banks. The tissue and donor are screened for various diseases. The cells such as red and white blood cells are removed in a special process to render the tissue safe for transplanting. Alloderm is ideal for lip enhancement, wider and deeper acne scars or cheek furrows. Compared to Goretex, Alloderm is much softer. Unfortunately, the Alloderm can resorb from 20% to 100%. Each patient is unique and the permanence differs.
Fat transplantation from one area of the body to another was very popular several years ago. Fat could be liposuctioned or aspirated in a syringe and reinjected into needed facial areas. Unfortunately, the fat always dissolves. It lasts less than the collagen -only four to eight weeks.
